Granting funds for ministry

Since 2009 Northwest Coast Presbytery has provided over $370,000 in grants to over 50 projects in our congregations to bless their communities.  We call it the “Community Blessing Grant Program”.

Community Blessing Grants 
For new church expressions, ethnic/immigrant ministries, and NWCP churches to bless their communities.  
Recent recipients include Myong Sung PC for new vision for church to connect with surrounding communities and churches, Trinity United PC for the New Earth Men’s Recovery House, Mount Baker and Calvin PC for back to school supplies for local children, First PC Sitka for Food Hub.

There are also grants available for:

New Worshiping Communities and other ways our congregations are trying to grow indispensable to their communities.

Miriam Snow Mathes Memorial Internship Fund 
For congregations to host ministry internships in NWC Presbytery. Become a teaching congregation!
Recent recipients include Metlakatla PC and Whitworth summer internship churches (First Bellingham PC, Mount Vernon PC, Calvin PC and Tierra Nueva).

Katie Allen Scholarship Grants 
For seminarians to help pay seminary education expenses including tuition, books, fees, travel. 
Recent recipients include Lora Burge (Whidbey), Shannon Smythe (Bellingham First), Don Lichty (First PC Snohomish), Mike Souza (Mukilteo PC), Elyse Fairweather (First PC Bellingham), Jae Cho (Baker Community PC), and Keith Snavely (Westminster PC).

Peacemaking Grants 
For activities, conferences and education that supports peacemaking.
Recent recipients include Community Church of Seattle Bike-a-thon to raise funds for drilling water wells in Honduras, First PC Everett for Yucatan Helping Hands and Medical Mission in Guatemala.

Armenta Merchant Memorial Fund 
Especially for small churches Clallam Bay and Neah Bay on the Olympic Peninsula and for New Worshiping Communities/New Churches in NWC Presbytery.
Recent recipients include Tidelands Missional Community and Clallam Bay PC.

Youth Triennium Scholarships 
For Middle School and High School students to attend the Nationwide PC(USA) Youth Triennium at Purdue University in Indiana. Next triennium is July 16-20, 2019.

New Higher Education Ministry Grants 
For congregations who want to become engaged in college-age student ministry. 

Southeast Alaska Mission and Ministry 
Funds are stewarded by Alaska Funds Committee of the Executive Board. 
Recent recipients include First PC Sitka, Metlakatla PC, First PC Wrangell and Yakutat PC.

Unassigned PC(USA) Restricted Fund Grants
These are grants for specific purposes available to congregations and presbyteries.  The list of funds available, applications, submission guidelines and deadlines for submission are available usually after March 1. Read more
